AUBURN, Mass. - The Joel H. Prouty Lodge and the Lodges of the 24th Masonic District will participate in the Masonic Open House on Saturday, Feb. 25 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The Grand Lodge of Massachusetts has declared that all Lodges should be open to the public from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on that day. Joel H. Prouty Lodge is located at 780 Southbridge St. in Auburn and the 24th District comprises Lodges in Auburn, Charlton, Douglas, Millbury, Oxford, Southbridge, Uxbridge and Webster.
Daniel Barston, who oversees the 24th Masonic District, said, "We expect to have a fantastic day with all the Lodges in the district open to any member of the public who is curious about Masonry. Just come on down and visit a Lodge and learn more about who we are and what we do."
"We'll have Lodge officers and members available to provide tours to anyone coming in, and if there are men who would be interested in learning how to become a member we'll also be there to answer any questions they have about the process and provide them materials to apply to become a member," head of Joel H. Prouty Lodge Robert Lajoie said.
The Grand Lodge of Massachusetts is the oldest Grand Lodge of Masons in the United States with a membership of over 44,000 men. In Massachusetts, membership is for men, 18 years of age or older, who meet the qualifications and standards of character and reputation, who are of good moral character, and who believe in the existence of a supreme being.
