AUBURN, Mass. - As part of the Red Sox “100 Acts of Kindness” campaign, the Red Sox Foundation visited the Lorraine Gleick Nordgren Senior Center in Auburn with the World Series trophy to celebrate Valentine’s Day.

To highlight and support the important work done by the many charitable institutions throughout New England, the Red Sox are taking part in “100 Acts of Kindness” with various not-for-profit organizations during the 100th anniversary season of Fenway Park in 2012.

Fenway Ambassadors, Red Sox staff and Wally the Green Monster passed out roses to each of the seniors attending the Valentine's Day Tea and provided an opportunity to take a picture with World Series trophy.

The “100 Acts of Kindness” will take on a number of different forms, including donations, volunteer efforts and hosting community events. Each Act will be designed to highlight charities throughout New England above and beyond the thousands of organizations the Red Sox currently support each year.

According to Executive Director of Auburn Senior Citizens Center Christina Silpe, the Red Sox Foundation contacted the senior center to find out if they would be interested to host the event with Wally and the trophy. The foundation has not visited a Central Massachusetts center in a few years and thought Auburn would be a great choice.

The event also included music from the Trinity Lutheran Orchestra and food provided by the Friends of Auburn Senior Center Association.
