AUBURN, Mass. - This year, Auburn High School students interested in volunteering at the upcoming Massachusetts Special Olympics tournament are encouraged to pre-register for the event online.
"As you know, we have a lot of volunteers who come to Auburn High School each year. Because they are not pre-registered, there’s usually a long line first thing in the morning, people don’t get the correct size tee shirt or we run out," Special Olympics Director of Volunteer and Family Programs Martha J. Dove said.
To alleviate the problem, this year Dove has set up a registration link just for Auburn High School volunteers. Students are encouraged to register online at http://soma.vsyshost.com/vsys/app/W785C7RB01ZF17PW before Friday, February 24 to be guaranteed a T-shirt in their size.
The tournament will be held at the Auburn High School on March 10 and 11 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Last year, the event was a success thanks to hundreds of local community volunteers.
The event encourages volunteer participation from church groups, athletic teams, cheering squads, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, local businesses and more.
