AUBURN - Sharpen your pencils! The Auburn Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that scholarships are being offered to graduating high school students. Two types of scholarships are available to senior students who reside in the town of Auburn.

Academic Scholarship – Awarded to a student continuing their education in an accredited post secondary school. Career-Trade Scholarship – Awarded to a student who is going into a trade. Scholarship funds will be received solely for the purchase of tools for the trade.

Resident scholarships will be awarded on the basis of scholastic achievement, community/school involvement, financial need, essay responses, and a potential interview with members of the Auburn Chamber’s School/Business Partnership Committee.

The Chamber will award up to $8,000 in scholarships to Auburn residents. Additional Scholarships will be awarded to children of Auburn Chamber Members and/or their employees who are senior students continuing their education in an accredited post secondary school. Chamber member scholarship applicants are not required to reside in the town of Auburn. Senior students who are employed by a member organization are also eligible.

The Chamber will award up to 4 - $1,000 scholarships to children of its members. Scholarship criteria and applications for Auburn residents are available in the guidance offices of their respective schools.

The deadline for submitting applications to the Chamber is March 2, 2012.

The Auburn Chamber has awarded $236,000 in scholarships since 1975.
